5 Sacred Aspects of Hosting
Each Oasis location operates separately but still is part of a larger movement and network. For an Oasis to work well, we’ve designated these 5 aspects to be most important:

Face – Do you carry a heart and empathy to be present with ministry leaders in need? There may be training in your background or future, but we are mostly looking for people who truly embody incarnational empathy.
Funding – This role is fundraised through ministry partnership development. Is this something you are willing to do and grow in alongside our trusted coaching partners? There’s a lot of variety in how this looks per person.
Space – Do you have a space already or at least a reasonable plan for a space that could accommodate guests with comfort and privacy? Sounds like you already do! I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Guests – Are you willing and able to reach mission organizations and churches to make the invitation for guests to come refresh and renew? Is your location accessible by planes, trains, and automobiles?
Movement – There are many behind the scenes aspects of working together as a ministry and nonprofit including care groups, host reports, compliance signatures and more. We are looking for people who are excited and able to be part of something bigger. |
One other additional but important detail: We are currently only able to hire US citizens unless another seconding agreement can be arranged.

Why do people join ORI?
Do you feel called to serve pastors, global workers, and Christian leaders? Are you someone who hosts ministry leaders on an informal basis already? Joining ORI benefits not only you, but also the ministry leaders you are trying to bless. For you, it means access to our resources and care, equipping you to be the Best@R.E.S.T. For ministry leaders, it means increased accessibility to R.E.S.T., since your Oasis would be part of ORI’s global network.
How are Oasis locations chosen?
We seek to be strategic with our suitable Oasis locations, giving careful consideration to accessibility and refreshing R.E.S.T. for our guests. Proposed Oasis locations should be easily accessible by car, train or plane as well as give guests the opportunity to be on “retreat” in a quiet, sacred space.
What compensation does ORI offer to hosts?
ORI hosts are expected to raise their own financial support through ministry partnerships in order to receive regular compensation and reimbursement for ministry expenses through ORI. We require that each Oasis is fully funded at the start of the ministry (100% of the amount determined by ORI and the applicant).
The amount necessary for full funding will be jointly determined between ORI and the applicant in the process of developing an operating budget. This operating budget will include salary and ministry expenses to be covered through ministry partner development. In determining the budget, ORI and the applicant/Oasis host will look at the ability to financially operate and support the host(s) in a healthy way, based on ministry partner support, personal financial resources and other projected earnings.
What qualifications are needed to be an ORI host?
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, we consider a number of qualifications and criteria as we determine whether an applicant is a good fit.
We’ve listed some of the basic qualifications below, with more available in the job description and throughout the discovery process:
- Intimacy with the Lord and growing spiritual maturity
- Support for the mission, vision and organizational values of ORI
- Ability to fully support operation of the Oasis and exercise sound financial management through ministry partnership development
- Possession of, or ability to secure, an Oasis property suitable for the purpose of fulfilling ORI’s mission of providing safe and caring space
- Commitment to provide care and coaching to Oasis guests
- Basic training in Biblical coaching
- Prior missionary/pastoral experience is helpful
What is the application process like?
If you are interested in becoming a host, please fill out the host inquiry form. You will then receive more information about our 5 sacred aspects of hosting, along with a link to schedule a discovery call. From there, we may recommend other hosts and staff for you to meet before filling out a formal application. Our interview process then involves zoom or in-person interviews with three of our staff, so that together we can prayerfully consider if ORI is a good fit for you.
