Oasis Rest Host Job Description

Responsible to: Executive Director

Job Purpose: To honor God by utilizing unique giftings to further Oasis Rest International's (ORI’s) mission of giving every Christian leader, on every major continent, access and opportunity to be Refreshed through R.E.S.T. (Retreat. Encouragement. Safety. Transformation.)

 

Job Description: Be the best @ R.E.S.T.

  1. To provide access to R.E.S.T. by hosting oasis R.E.S.T. retreats at the oasis listed above.
  2. To offer in-person or online coaching and/or debriefing as part of the continuum of care as it applies to the R.E.S.T. model.
  3. To provide opportunity/awareness for R.E.S.T. through the promotion of your oasis, the organization, and/or the R.E.S.T. model in your communities, denominations, and mission-sending organizations.
  4. To raise and maintain approved full financial support through deputized fundraising.
  5. To seek out personal and professional development opportunities in order to strengthen yourself and your teammates, and to contribute to the organization’s goal to be the best @ R.E.S.T.

Scope and Range:

Primary aspects:

  • Hosting oasis R.E.S.T. retreats for Christian leaders
  • Preparation of space and material for oasis R.E.S.T. retreats both practically and spiritually. This includes preparing, maintaining or cleaning the retreat space; preparing retreat material; praying for guests; corresponding with guests in advance or as follow-up to the visit etc.
  • Ministry Partner Development (MPD) through regular communication (monthly newsletter) and in-person engagement in order to share the vision, create a prayer team, and achieve and then maintain fully funded status
  • Professional and personal development to improve your ability to offer oasis R.E.S.T retreats
  • Self-care through practicing the sabbath, engaging in required monthly Care Calls, and other practices to maintain spiritual and emotional health
  • Establish and maintain an awareness of your oasis in your community and relational networks.

Secondary aspects:

  • In person or online coaching/debriefing outside of an oasis R.E.S.T. retreat as part of the continuum of care of R.E.S.T.
  • Promotion of your oasis, the organization, and/or the R.E.S.T. model through networking, marketing, workshops, resource creation, conference attendance and/or speaking engagements, hosting large group retreats, or day retreats

Outside the scope and range:
The following activities may happen on occasion but are not the primary or secondary focus of oasis R.E.S.T. International hosts:

  • unhosted stays
  • coaching on topics unrelated to R.E.S.T. or coaching individuals who have not attended an oasis retreat
  • ORI does not offer formal counseling but can refer outside of the organization upon request.

Definitions:

Oasis R.E.S.T. retreat

  • a 3-5 or 5-7 day retreat at your oasis
  • audience is a Christian leader or family
  • is hospitality driven (providing agreed upon food, accommodations, and privacy)
  • provides on-site non-intrusive availability that could include some form of formal or informal coaching, debriefing, provision of resources, guided retreat experience, active listening, prayer and communion

The R.E.S.T. model

  • a retreat that is Biblically encouraging offered in a safe environment that leads to transformation

Christian leader

  • pastors or missionaries/global workers
  • non-profit organization leaders or workers
  • denominational leaders
  • church staff/missionary staff
  • Christian business leaders
  • spouses and family of the above

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Willingness, skills, and networks to be able to raise and maintain approved financial support
    • Oases must be fully funded at the start of the ministry (100% of the amount determined by ORI and the applicant)
    • Meet admin fee requirements of 10% of donations or $275 per month (whichever is greater)
  • Possession or ability to secure an oasis property suitable for the purpose of fulfilling ORI’s mission of providing R.E.S.T.
    • must be secured "within 6 to 9 months of fully funded status and arrival on location
    • a location that permits a guest or guest family to have a dedicated space - private beds, bathroom, and space to relax - separate from the host family living space.
    • located in a strategic location in regards to accessibility through proximity to airports, train lines, etc.
  • Training and proficiency in Coaching skills obtained before opening the oasis
  • Training and proficiency in Debriefing skills are strongly recommended
  • Skill in developing or sourcing content and resources to serve guests
  • Evidence of gifts of hospitality, emotional maturity, and self-care
  • Embodiment of organizational values
  • Adherence to Statement of Faith
